What is Water Centric
Water Centric (WC) is a ‘bridge’ organization between geographic areas that are in most urgent need of improved water, sanitation and hygiene and the international agencies, technical experts and individuals committed to changing the situation. WC connects local solutions with international funding and expertise – and quickly brings practical and sustainable projects to scale. WC does this by leveraging the power of its social and professional networks to first find effective local partners and then the appropriate solutions to their particular problems.
Water Centric is an international NGO.
It works in partnership with local NGOs in developing countries to help provide water, sanitation and hygiene education to clusters of resource poor schools in selected high need areas. After developing a successful model for doing this work in a particular set of schools and context, WC and its local NGO partner quickly scale up the initiative to spread it to many more schools.
Water Centric connects local NGO partners in areas of most need with:
- Access to capital
- Technical assistance on all aspects of the work.
- Monitoring, evaluation and documentation techniques.
- Replication and scale up of successful models.
WC is aware that most solutions to the challenges of water and sanitation access
today are well established. Rather than focus on a ‘miracle technology’
to solve the world’s water problems or to reinvent the wheel, it strives
to find the ‘right fit’ of technology that is effective and culturally
appropriate to the context. Some examples: Rainwater harvesting to
increase water access, improved design of pans to keep latrines clean
with very little water and inexpensive technologies to purify contaminated
water supply at the point of use.
Water Centric is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization (EIN/tax ID number: 26-1917795). Your donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.
