What a difference a year can make to one school:
- Over 1000 girls had no access to toilets as there was no local sewer connection
- With your support we built a Septic tank to which we connected four existing toilets and two brand new ones..
- With SIX working toilets in this school, the municipality has finally promised to build 5 more toilets
- Now that 's progress!

Clean and hygienic facilities make a good washing experience - an, essential element of changing behaviors toward good hygiene. These schoolchildren greatly appreciate their new facilities, as they no longer get all wet and dirty while drinking or washing hands and lunch-boxes!

Dear Reader!
Greetings from Water Centric in Boston!
I wish that each of you could experience first hand the appreciation of the children on the improvements we are steadily making in their schools. Every time I visit, I come back smiling from ear to ear and excited about the work we are doing to provide clean water facilities, functional toilets and hygiene education to our Delhi schools. I see the fruits of our efforts in the smiles and thanks I get from the children and, particularly in listening to the articulate responses they give me on what they are learning in their hygiene education clubs and why it is important! This past month I visited all 10 of our schools and am convinced we are on the right track.
I am equally excited about the interest we’re generating right here in the US about addressing this cause. There are a large number of people like you who are interested in what we do and volunteer time and most importantly donate to our cause. I am humbled by the interest and enthusiasm of American children in schools and universities that want to help improve the conditions and health of children in the developing world. As you may know, a significant portion of our fund raising is coming from the efforts of these school children in the US!
Best wishes,

Diwali, also known as “Festival of Lights,” is a time of celebration and thanksgiving in India for the victory of good over evil. This year, in honor of Diwali, on November 5, 2010, Water Centric is hosting a six-month Diwali/Twiwali Twitter campaign “Twiwali”. A group of Harvard Extension School students helped us launch this campaign to raise awareness about the work of Water Centric and raise funds for our Sri Niwas Puri School. They hope to get the 1433 girls access to clean toilets and Sanitation by Diwali. So far $718 has been raised toward their goal of $6000.

Acknowledgement
Water Centric would like to acknowledge a generous donation of $10,000 by the Sawhney Family Foundation. Amar and Deepika Sawhney, have been friends of Water Centric since it’s inception in 2008. They have been living in Lexington, MA, USA with their two young children since 1989.
“Having grown up in India, we realize that clean water, and hygienic conditions are very critical for India’s young population. Functional toilets and basic hygiene education can control health issues and the resultant absenteeism. By educating the children, a slow change is wrought on society, as they become the teachers of the community - one family at a time. We are happy to extend multiyear support to Water Centric for we believe such programs can have lasting impact in India.”
